Traditional Event Enjoy autumn scenery and hagi (bush clover) "Mukojima Hyakkaen Hagi Festival" The 2026 "Hagi Festival" will be held at Mukojima Hyakkaen. Around the time when the approximately 30-meter-long "Hagi Tunnel," a specialty of the garden, is at its best, you can stroll through the autumn-colored grounds and enjoy seasonal flowers and Japanese culture. During the period, events such as "Hagi-themed Poetry" where visitors write haiku and waka on tanzaku, "Wildflower Watching" to observe wild plants in the garden, and a "Tea Ceremony" offering matcha and sweets will be held. Traditional Performing Arts An ethereal world illuminated by torchlight "The 38th Shinjuku Gyoen Mori no Takigi Noh" The 38th Shinjuku Gyoen Mori no Takigi Noh will be held, where you can enjoy the traditional performing arts of Noh and Kyogen on the stage of Shinjuku Gyoen. In the heart of Tokyo lined with skyscrapers, this annual autumn event invites you into the refined world of Noh, with a stage lit by torchlight. This year’s program features the Kyogen "Hi no Sake" performed by Mansai Nomura (Izumi school), and the Noh "Funa Benkei (Zengo no Kae)" performed by Tetsunojo Kanze and Atsuo Kanze (Kanze school). Enjoy Noh and Kyogen in an ethereal atmosphere "Mori no Takigi Noh" is a traditional performing arts event where you can enjoy Noh performed by carefully selected artists and pieces on a stage emerging in torchlight, set within the rich natural environment that remains in central Tokyo at Shinjuku Gyoen. Traditional Event Enjoy the moon on an autumn night “Mukojima Hyakkaen Moon-Viewing Gathering” Mukojima Hyakkaen will host the traditional event “Tsukimi-no-kai,” which has continued since the Edo period. On deepening autumn nights, while gazing at the moon, you can enjoy a magical garden illuminated by lanterns and bonbori—an event unique to autumn. During the period, opening hours are extended until 9:00 p.m., allowing you to experience Mukojima Hyakkaen at night, different from the daytime. Various moon-viewing–themed events will also be held in the garden.
