The food festival that heats up Tokyo’s winter, “Furusato Tokyo Support Festival Local Gourmet Hot Pots VS Umami Dashi Oden in Ueno 2026,” will be held for 10 days from Friday, February 20 to Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Ueno Onshi Park and Shinobazu Pond. Carrying on the fervor of the GW “Gyoza VS Karaage Fest” that drew huge crowds, this time brings the ultimate showdown between winter classics: “Hot Pots” and “Umami Dashi Oden”! The fierce battle of “Gyoza VS Karaage” that proved wildly popular during GW scales up in winter as “Hot Pots VS Umami Dashi Oden”! Warming hot pots like rich Hakata motsu nabe, Fukaya negi chicken nabe, and chanko nabe made with carefully selected ingredients from across Japan, along with umami-packed oden simmered in meticulously prepared broths such as Sapporo miso oden and Dosanko kelp-dashi oden, will gather all in one place. Whether you’re Team Nabe or Team Oden—and even fans of warm drinks like atsukan—an array of diverse local specialties will satisfy everyone! One of Tokyo’s premier plum-blossom spots, boasting around 670 trees: about 280 red and about 390 white! The Setagaya Ume Festival is held at Hanegi Park in Setagaya, Tokyo. At peak bloom, about 280 red and about 390 white plum trees—around 670 in total—color the park. “Kishu Umeshu Festival 2026,” where you can enjoy 100 exquisite umeshu from Wakayama Prefecture, will be held again this year at Asakusa’s “Ume to Hoshi”! This “Umeshu Festival” is a collaboration between Nanki Mirai Co., Ltd. in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture—the home of umeshu—and Asakusa’s “Ume to Hoshi.” The first edition was held in 2024, and this time marks the third. You can fully savor 100 luxurious varieties of Kishu umeshu. Enjoy one of the largest plum blossom displays among the nine Tokyo Metropolitan Gardens! When Mukojima Hyakkaen first opened in the late Edo period, about 360 plum trees were planted, and it was cherished as a famous plum-viewing spot known as "Shin Umeyashiki." Today, you can still view more than 20 varieties, including 鴛鴦（えんおう）・紅千鳥（べにちどり）・藤牡丹（ふじぼたん）しだれ・冬至梅（とうじばい）・白加賀（しろかが）. Timed to the peak bloom, we will hold events where you can enjoy Edo culture along with the plum blossoms. Spend a refined moment in early spring at Mukojima Hyakkaen, savoring the fragrance of plums and the atmosphere of Edo. Details 1. Under the guidance of the late Hiroshi Sakano, they both inherit his arts—such as the toad-oil hawker, candy seller, and banana peddler—and work on revivals of the peep-show and rokurokubi (sideshow). Since Heisei 13 (2001), centering on the auspicious art harukoma, they have also taken on door-to-door and procession-style performances. Once a year, they stage a theater performance exploring Japanese street arts. 3.
