Special Exhibition

Special exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Yamatane Museum of Art’s opening
“Okumura Togyu — Tracing 100 Years through Masterpieces —”

The Yamatane Museum of Art is holding the 60th Anniversary Special Exhibition 2, “Okumura Togyu — Tracing 100 Years through Masterpieces.” Focusing on the deep ties between the Japanese painter Okumura Togyu (1889-1990) and the Yamatane Museum of Art, this exhibition traces his career from the early period to his final years. The museum’s founder, Yamazaki Taneji, maintained a friendship with Togyu for over 50 years from the early days of his career. Thanks to that connection, the museum holds 135 works by Okumura Togyu; this exhibition presents about 60 outstanding pieces from among them, including representative works such as 《鳴門》 and 《醍醐》.
