\r\n The shrine buildings erected by Tokugawa Yoshimune miraculously escaped numerous earthquakes and wars, preserving their original appearance to this day, and are designated Tangible Cultural Properties of Tokyo.

\r\n Within the grounds remain a torii gate, guardian lion-dogs, and stone lanterns inscribed with Edo-era dates—an evocative and rare-in-Tokyo space where history and nature are in harmony.\r\n

1. Valuable architecture and scenery preserving the Edo-period appearance
The shrine buildings of Akasaka Hikawa Shrine were constructed in Kyōhō 14 (1729) during the mid-Edo period and still retain their original appearance. As you stroll through the precincts, you will find many heritage items that convey history, such as stone monuments and lanterns engraved with Edo-era year names, and seven pairs of komainu, making you feel as if you have slipped back in time to the Edo period.

2. A sacred grove surrounded by lush greenery
The precincts are so richly surrounded by trees that they make you forget the bustle of the city. Led by a great ginkgo over 400 years old, the trees display different expressions with each season, bringing healing and tranquility to visitors. Offering prayers while feeling the breath of nature becomes a special time that refreshes both body and mind.

3. The blessings of "enmusubi" and monthly visits
Because the married deities 素盞嗚尊（すさのおのみこと） and 奇稲田姫命（くしいなだひめのみこと）, as well as 大己貴命（おおなむぢのみこと）, are enshrined here, the shrine is known for its strong blessings of "enmusubi". From the 1st of every month, the monthly goshuin "かさね" is distributed, and the once-a-month "縁結び参り" is supported by many people who pray for good relationships.

At Akasaka Hikawa Shrine, various festivals and events are held throughout the year.
On September 15 each year, the Annual Festival (Akasaka Hikawa Festival) is held, where you can experience the community’s tradition and vibrancy.
From 9:00 a.m. on the 1st of every month, the monthly goshuin “Kasane,” whose design changes each month, is available.
Shinto wedding ceremonies are also held within the shrine grounds, allowing you to celebrate life’s new beginnings in a traditional and solemn atmosphere.
Through the “Classes” and the “Devotees’ Association,” opportunities are also provided to engage with Japan’s traditional culture.
