A living landmark in Roppongi where greenery and design intertwine
【Tokyo Midtown】
Directly connected to Roppongi Station, Tokyo Midtown is a mixed-use urban district where rich nature and culture blend together at the heart of the city. Since its opening in 2007, it has been loved by many as a “neighborhood where nature, design, and art coexist.” Within the grounds, commercial facilities, a hotel, a museum, offices, and residences come together as one, creating spaces where every visitor can enjoy time in their own way.
Top 3 Highlights
1. A lush green space that showcases the four seasons
The greatest appeal of Tokyo Midtown is its abundant greenery that you wouldn’t expect in the heart of the city. At the center of the complex, Midtown Garden welcomes visitors with trees and lawns that change their look with each season. Cherry blossoms in spring, deep greenery in summer, autumn foliage from fall into winter, and sparkling illuminations in winter. Beautiful, photo-worthy scenery can be enjoyed in every season.
2. A space where art and design come alive
Known as a “city of design and art,” Tokyo Midtown is home to venues such as 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT and the Suntory Museum of Art, where you can experience art from Japan and abroad. Artworks are displayed throughout the grounds, and even a simple stroll offers delightful little discoveries.
3. Enjoy dining and shopping
Inside, you’ll find refined shops and restaurants suitable for a wide range of occasions from lunch to dinner. Terrace cafés overlooking the lawn plaza are especially popular, and the sight of people relaxing while gazing at the greenery was striking. There are also limited-time events and pop-up stores, so each visit brings new discoveries.
Other Recommended Information
Don’t miss the seasonal events either. During “MIDTOWN BLOSSOM” in spring, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in full bloom,
and during “MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS” in winter, enchanting illuminations wrap the area.
It’s also recommended to take a break in Midtown Garden between shopping and strolling.
Blending nature and culture in the heart of the city, Tokyo Midtown is a place where you’ll discover new charms with every visit.

Check RouteMinato City Lecture & Culture2026.08.28(金)–2027.01.11(月)Special Exhibition Rethinking contemporary life through Hōjōki Special Exhibition "Learning from Hōjōki – Small architectures that reweave how we live –" At 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, the special exhibition "Learning from Hōjōki – Small architectures that reweave how we live –" has been on view since Friday, August 28, 2026. The early 13th-century essay Hōjōki by Kamo no Chōmei poses questions about how to live in an ever-changing world. The hermitage where Chōmei lived no longer exists, but his words have been read across ages, offering clues to the essence of dwelling. Taking as its starting point the small architecture that appears in Hōjōki, "Hōjō no an," this exhibition reconsiders contemporary life and the built environment. Under the direction of architect Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, the exhibition director, architects, designers, artists, and companies each envision their own "Hōjō no an." Exhibition Highlights Considering life from a small architecture of about 9 m² Using the one-jō-square scale—about 9 m²—of "Hōjō no an" as a guide, the exhibition presents various devices that reexamine ways of living through materials, structure, and tools. Experience multiple "Hōjō no an" Alongside research on nature and daily life depicted in Hōjōki, multiple hermitages are presented in the venue. As visitors move through the exhibition space, they can encounter "Hōjō no an" composed from different perspectives. Turning attention to the space between Hōjōki and contemporary life This exhibition is not solely about interpreting Hōjōki itself. It seeks to focus on the "life" that emerges between Hōjōki and us, offering a chance to reengage with how we live today. Recommended for This exhibition is recommended not only for those interested in architecture, design, and Japanese culture, but also for anyone who wishes to consider ways of living in limited spaces and the future of housing. It is well worth stopping by when visiting museums and design venues in Tokyo’s Roppongi area. Photo: 木奥恵三 Photo: 木奥恵三 ※Exhibition contents and participating artists are subject to change.
