EVENT
Heisei Romance Exhibition
A nostalgic yet new interactive exhibition tracing Heisei-era romance
The “Heisei Romance Exhibition” will be held at the Roppongi Museum. Through items and experiences that symbolize love in the Heisei era—flip phones, pagers, purikura albums, exchange diaries, passing notes, and more—you can relive the thrills and youthful feelings of those days.
At the venue, the roughly 30 years of the Heisei era are divided into “early, middle, and late” exhibition zones, featuring around 3,000 items and experiences related to romance of the time. With a few exceptions, exhibits can be handled, so you can not only reminisce but also touch, play, and experience the atmosphere of Heisei.
The exhibition runs from April 7, 2026(Tue)to June 28(Sun). Venue: Roppongi Museum. Opening hours: Mon–Thu 10:00–19:30(last entry 19:00), Fri–Sun and during Golden Week 10:00–21:00(last entry 20:30).
Event Highlights
A display where you can “touch and play” with Heisei-era romance items
Open flip phones, browse decorated purikura albums, and explore items that bring back memories of romance and friendships from back then. You can also enjoy quintessential Heisei everyday scenes, like passing notes in class, entering messages on a pager, or calling your partner from a landline.
An immersive space to relive “Heisei romance”
In the exhibition space, you can trace how romance in the Heisei era evolved alongside changes in communication methods, through items and interactive experiences. By engaging with passing notes, exchange diaries, flip phones, and purikura albums, you can revisit your own memories or relive a Heisei youth you never knew.
Enjoy nostalgic after-school experiences, too
There are also booths that evoke after-school hours in Heisei: chatting at a family restaurant, choosing CDs at TSUTAYA, decorating notebooks, and more. Visit with friends, a partner, or family, and you’re sure to reminisce about those days.
A limited-time exhibition in Roppongi
The Roppongi Museum is a 7-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Roppongi Station and a 10-minute walk from Azabu-juban Station. It’s an easy stop to pair with dining or outings in the Roppongi area—a limited-time exhibition.
