We went to Design Festa vol.63!
A report on the atmosphere and highlights of the venue

We visited "Design Festa vol.63," held at Tokyo Big Sight. It is one of Japan's largest art events where anyone, professional or amateur, can exhibit as long as the work is original. This time, both the West and South Halls were used, making for a large-scale venue with around 6,500 booths.

Even on the way to the venue, we saw many attendees, and anticipation for the event kept building.

experience

01 / AREAThe first thing that surprises you is how vast the venue is

The West and South Halls of Tokyo Big Sight, which serve as the venue, are extremely spacious, and upon arrival many people could be seen checking the area map first.

The venue is divided into areas by genre—illustration, accessories, fashion, interior, sundries, dolls, live painting, and more—so deciding in advance which booths you want to visit will help you enjoy the event efficiently.

  • Before exploring the vast venue, we recommend checking the map near the entrance.
  • Deciding on the genres or booths you're interested in beforehand helps prevent missing anything.

02 / ART & CREATORSAn art event that brings together diverse genres

The appeal of Design Festa is that it isn’t limited to a single genre. In addition to illustration and handmade goods, creators from a wide range of fields gather, including accessories, fashion items, interior pieces, and more.

There are also live painting sessions and stage shows inside the venue, so you can not only "look" at works but also enjoy "experiencing" them.

03 / FOODPlenty to eat in the food area

A cafe and food area were also set up inside the venue. The guide showed a wide range of vendors, including rice bowls, meat dishes, sweets, and cuisines from around the world.

Because it’s an event where you walk all around a large venue, it’s great to be able to enjoy it while taking meal and rest breaks along the way.

04 / VIEWA breathtaking view from above

Looking down from the upper floors of the venue, you’re once again struck by its sheer scale. Rows of booths and many visitors browsing the works in their own way are quintessential Design Festa.

Crowds formed around the stage, and the entire venue was filled with vibrant energy.

05 / PHOTO SPOTPhoto spots were popular too

A large Design Festa object was also installed inside the venue. Its colorful design was striking, and we saw visitors enjoying commemorative photos.

It’s also recommended for those who want to take photos as a memento of attending the event.

To preserve the atmosphere of the venue, combining entrance, map, booths, overhead shots, and photo spots will give your report a cohesive flow.

Around 6,500 booths gathered. A day when you can feel creative energy just by walking

Design Festa was an event that not only art lovers but also people who don’t usually go to art events could enjoy.

In addition to encounters with artworks, there were plenty of highlights such as live painting, performances, and the food area. Just walking around the venue brought new discoveries and let you feel the energy of creation.

I’m already looking forward to the next event.
