“Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2026” will be held at the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum on October 24 (Sat) and 25 (Sun).
Various schools of tea ceremony will gather, making it an event that even newcomers and those unfamiliar with tea ceremony can easily join. Starting in 2026, tickets for both the indoor “Chaseki” and the outdoor “Nodate” can be purchased on the day.
At the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, you can experience different styles of tea ceremony against the backdrop of atmospheric historic buildings.
Highlights of Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2026
Experience tea ceremony in historic buildings
At the indoor “Chaseki,” you can experience tea ceremony at the venues 高橋是清邸, 西川家別邸, 吉野家, and 万徳旅館.
In addition, at the gate of 伊達家, the outdoor “Nodate” will be held. The program is designed to be easy to join even for those with no tea ceremony experience.
Each session is 25 minutes; the participation fee is 800 yen.
At 西川家別邸 and the gate of 伊達家, some sessions will also include sign language interpretation.
Tea sessions available in English
At 綱島家, “tea sessions in English” will be offered. In addition to explanations in Japanese, English interpretation will be provided, making it easier for international visitors to appreciate the charm of tea ceremony.
These are also 25 minutes per session, with a participation fee of 800 yen.
Tea sessions for children, too
At 天明家, “tea sessions to enjoy with children” will be held, where children of junior high school age or younger and their guardians can learn tea ceremony etiquette together.
The participation fee is 500 yen per person, and for every 1–2 children of junior high school age or younger, one guardian can participate together.
Join easily with same-day tickets
Starting in 2026, all "Tea Ceremony" and "Nodate" events held at the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum can be joined with same-day tickets.
There are no advance reservations or lotteries; purchase your participation ticket on the day at the venue. Sales end once each session reaches capacity, so we recommend heading to the venue with plenty of time if you wish to participate.
During the Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony period, admission to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is free.

Tea ceremony and Nodate tickets can be purchased on the day. No advance reservations or lotteries.
Sales end once each session reaches capacity.
Participation tickets are sold until 20 minutes before each session begins.
Participation fees can be paid in cash or by transportation IC cards, nanaco, 楽天Edy, QUICPay, iD, etc. Credit cards are not accepted.
