So cute you’ll want to snap a photo, “Rainbow Pie” (box of 3 for 1,820 yen; 550 yen per piece) is a hot topic on Instagram. Inside the macaron is a salted egg yolk wrapped in white bean paste, making it sweet with a subtle salty note—a uniquely Chinese dessert. Purchases of Rainbow Pie and similar items require a reservation one week in advance. If you want to buy it as a gift, be sure to reserve before visiting!

Vividly colored soup wontons

The shop’s recommendation is “Soup Wontons” (8 pieces 1,050 yen; 10 pieces 1,340 yen). The wrappers are of just the right thickness, with the wonton’s characteristic silky texture, and they pair perfectly with the gentle broth. Yellow is corn, white is shepherd’s purse, pink is shrimp, orange is kimchi, and green is mushrooms—each color has a different filling, so you can enjoy them to the last bite. The colors are extracted from vegetables, making them gentle on the body and wonderfully photogenic.

“Mixed Wontons” (8 pieces 950 yen; 10 pieces 1240 yen) have a pleasantly chewy texture and offer a different taste from the soup wontons. The wontons themselves are well seasoned and delicious as is, but they’re also great with a drizzle of crunchy house-made chili oil.
