Live demonstration right before your eyes! A spot where you can savor freshly made namagashi and matcha
【Tsuruya Yoshinobu Tokyo】
Located on the first floor of "COREDO Muromachi 3" in Nihonbashi, Chuo City, Tokyo, "Tsuruya Yoshinobu Tokyo" is a Kyoto confectioner founded in 1803. In Nihonbashi—a district that preserves tradition while continuing to innovate—it showcases the seasonal charms of Kyoto sweets. In April 2024, part of the interior was renewed. Tokyo-store-exclusive fresh confections and the innovative wagashi brand "IRODORI" have also made their debut, making it a spot where tradition and new challenges coexist and where you can fully experience the appeal of Japanese sweets.
3 Recommended Highlights
1. See master craftsmanship up close at 「菓遊茶屋」
Inside the shop is a demonstration counter, 「菓遊茶屋(かゆうぢゃや)」, where skilled wagashi artisans finish fresh confections right before your eyes. From the limited counter seats, watching a single sweet take shape through delicate techniques feels as immersive as sitting at a chef’s counter. Savoring freshly made confections with matcha is a special indulgence you can experience only here. ※The designs of the fresh confections change with the seasons.
2. Exclusive sweets available only here
At the Tokyo store, you’ll find a rich lineup of special items such as “TOKYO MISE限定 大福” packed with seasonal fruits, and products from “IRODORI,” Tsuruya Yoshinobu’s modern wagashi brand and new endeavor. These innovative flavors that go beyond the conventional idea of wagashi are perfect as a souvenir or a treat for yourself.
3. New-style wagashi to enjoy as takeout 「生つばら」
New takeout items from the IRODORI SHOP are also creating buzz. “生つばら” features factory-fresh baked skins with a “ふわもち” texture, generously filled with 「マスカルポーネあん」—a unique blend of white bean paste and mascarpone cheese. You can also enjoy new flavors that fuse Japanese and Western tastes while strolling, such as the collaborative drink “京ふわわ” with Gion Tsujiri.
