A "small, grand world" that anyone—from children to adults—can enjoy while rediscovering their inner child—that is SMALL WORLDS TOKYO.

One of Asia’s largest spots to experience a world of moving miniatures
【SMALL WORLDS TOKYO】

SMALL WORLDS is one of Asia’s largest miniature museums, with a total area of 7,000 ㎡, located in Ariake, Koto City, Tokyo. Step inside and you’ll find “another world” meticulously recreated at 1/80 scale. Across eight areas—including the Space Center, Kansai International Airport, and Evangelion—diverse miniature stories unfold from the realistic to the fantastical. Each area features blue-lit buttons; press them to set mechanisms in motion right before your eyes. As an indoor facility, it’s unaffected by the weather and can be enjoyed by families, friends, couples, and even solo visitors.

Top 3 Highlights

1. Truly moving miniatures that will thrill you!

The biggest attraction of SMALL WORLDS is the “moving miniatures.” It’s completely different from ordinary miniature displays.
At the Space Center, a rocket that looks just like the real thing lifts off with smoke. At the moment of launch, there are lights and sounds, creating a cinematic level of impact. Children watch with sparkling eyes, totally captivated.
In the Kansai Airport area, about 40 small airplanes actually move around the airport. Planes taking off, planes landing, planes taxiing along the runway… You’ll lose track of time just watching.
Another fun feature is that the venue switches between “day” and “night” every 15 minutes. During the day, the city is bright and lively; at night, countless tiny lights come on, creating a romantic atmosphere. The same place looks completely different depending on the time, so you never get bored no matter how many times you look.

2. Step into the world of anime! A must-see area for fans

There’s an area anime lovers won’t be able to resist.
In the Evangelion area, scenes like the city sinking underground and the Evas deploying are recreated right before your eyes. The blaring alarms and buildings in motion will give fans goosebumps. Details like Misato’s room and NERV HQ are crafted down to the smallest elements, offering plenty of “Oh, I know this!” moments.
Photography is allowed, so it’s fun to capture your favorite scenes and share them on social media.

3. Make your own miniature and display it! A one-of-a-kind memory

One of the most unique services at SMALL WORLDS is that you can create a figure that looks just like you and have it join the display.
After your whole body is scanned with a dedicated machine, your palm-sized “mini you” will be ready in a few weeks. You can place that figure wherever you like in your favorite area. It stays on display there for a year, so each time you visit you can enjoy searching for “yourself.”
Many people use it to commemorate a child’s growth, a family trip, or a couple’s special day… Imagining a tiny version of yourself living there over time is pretty exciting.

You can also take a break at the cafe
There’s a cafe on the second floor where you can enjoy cute sweets and light meals. It’s open from 10:30 to 18:00 on both weekdays and holidays (meals are served until 16:30 on weekdays and 17:30 on holidays). If you get tired after walking a lot, take a break here. The colorful desserts are perfect for Instagram.
There’s also a diorama near the cafe that recreates Japan’s night views, so we recommend relaxing and admiring it while you eat.

On specific days each month (the 10th, 11th, 12th and the 21st, 22nd, 23rd), “PET DAY” allows you to tour certain areas inside together with your pet.
