“You can make what you want to make.” In an urban hideaway, converse with clay and set yourself free in a blissful creative experience

Enveloped in the serenity of Shirokane, the ultimate pottery atelier to leave the everyday behind and sharpen your senses
Shirokane Pottery Studio

Located in Shirokane, Minato City, Tokyo, nestled among refined streets, “Shirokane Pottery Studio” is a creative space where everyone from beginners to experienced makers can freely enjoy self-expression. With the concept “Make what you want to make,” a team of professional instructors who support the creations of over 2,000 people each year helps turn your “vision” into form.

Open from 10:00 to 22:00 (hours may vary by day), it’s ideal for dropping in empty-handed after work or on a day off. While using traditional techniques such as the electric wheel and hand-building, our relaxed, free style lets you craft a one-of-a-kind piece. Stepping away from the city’s bustle and focusing on the feel of clay will be a special moment that refreshes body and mind.

1. Beginner-friendly! A free style that brings your “I want to make it” to life

With attentive support that dispels worries like “Pottery seems difficult…,” you’ll feel at ease. Instead of making a fixed mold, you can freely create what you truly want to use—from rice bowls and coffee cups to pasta plates and large platters. Even if you’re clumsy, professional guidance will lead to a surprisingly beautiful finish. In a 1-hour session, you can typically make 2–3 pieces—an indulgent plan.

Aprons and tools are all available to rent for free. No special preparation required—you can join whenever the mood strikes. Located in the calm Shirokane area, classes run as late as 22:00, making it perfect between sightseeing or as a post-work refresh. English support is available, and the open atmosphere loved by guests from Japan and abroad is another highlight.

With a full reservation system, there’s no waiting time, and you can immerse yourself in creation in a calm, private-feeling space.
