Located in the Jiyugaoka area of Meguro, Tokyo, “みどり湯” is a neighborhood-favorite public bath that’s easy to drop by even between shopping and sightseeing.
In addition to its convenient location about a 7-minute walk from Jiyugaoka Station, it features a clean front desk and a modern bathing space. Inside, there are a bubble bath, a jet sit-bath, a far-infrared sauna, and a cold bath, allowing you to gently unwind from everyday fatigue.
Towel rentals and various amenities are also available, making it easy to come empty-handed. It’s popular not only after sightseeing and shopping, but also as a spot to refresh after a run.
After a 2022 renovation, it has been reborn as a clean, modern space. The Mount Fuji mural on the bathhouse wall, a symbol of public bathhouses, is regularly repainted by artists, infusing traditional bathhouse culture with a contemporary sensibility. With high ceilings, bright and open, spotless bathing areas, and a variety of baths such as bubble baths and jet baths, it offers a refined Jiyugaoka-style bathhouse experience where you can forget everyday life and relax in the tub.
The far-infrared sauna in both the men's and women's bathing areas gently warms you to the core with a comfortable 90°C heat. After working up a good sweat in the sauna, cool down at leisure in a cold bath that isn't too frigid and is easy to enter. The pleasantly tempered cold bath makes post-sauna refreshment even more comfortable. It can be used for an additional 300 yen on top of the bathing fee, making it a great option for those looking for a sauna in Jiyugaoka.
Towels, shampoo, body soap, and other items are available for rent or purchase at reception, so even if you suddenly feel like going to a public bathhouse, you can stop by empty-handed. Various cashless payments (transportation IC cards, QR payments, etc.) are accepted, offering excellent convenience. You can also use the adjacent coin laundry, making it easy to incorporate into everyday life.
