A kintsugi experience studio in Asakusa, Tokyo, where tradition and creativity thrive
【Tsugu Tsugu - Asakusa Studio】
Located in Asakusa, where Tokyo’s history and culture intersect, “Tsugu Tsugu Asakusa” is a special place to experience the traditional Japanese art of kintsugi.
Our concept is to help visitors from Japan and abroad deeply understand and enjoy the kintsugi philosophy of “repairing what is broken and continuing to use it.”
At Tsugu Tsugu, we offer a wide range of workshops—from authentic kintsugi using natural urushi lacquer and pure gold to casual accessory making.
Experienced artisans provide attentive guidance, so even beginners can comfortably engage with Japan’s traditional crafts.
Its excellent location within walking distance of Asakusa Station is another highlight.
Top 3 Highlights
1. Authentic traditional kintsugi experience (90 minutes)
Using natural urushi lacquer and 23K pure gold powder, experience the final stage of kintsugi for restoring broken vessels: gold powder application.
The vessels are pre-prepared, allowing you to focus on the most dazzling part of kintsugi.
You can take your finished piece home the same day (with a drying box), pick it up later at the studio, or opt for international shipping.
At the Asakusa studio, up to 15 participants can join at once, and groups are welcome.
2. Kintsugi-style accessory making that sparks creativity (60 minutes)
A workshop where you create original accessories using epoxy resin and gold powder, applying traditional kintsugi techniques.
Choose from items like chopstick rests, earrings, and straps to craft a beautiful piece born from your own “break.”
Completed accessories can be taken home the same day—perfect for those who want to enjoy the beauty of kintsugi in a casual way.
3. Tourist-friendly location and comprehensive support
Just a 3-minute walk from Tawaramachi Station (Ginza Line) and 5 minutes from Asakusa Station, offering excellent access from major sightseeing spots.
The workshop can be explained in English, so overseas visitors can join with peace of mind.
From tools and materials to how to take your finished piece home, we provide attentive support to enrich your Japanese cultural experience.
