A fun, educational job and social experience facility for children
[KidZania Tokyo]
This is a “kid-centered city” where children can experience around 100 jobs and services in a town about two-thirds the size of real life. It’s not just play; through jobs, children learn how society works and experience both the fun and challenges of working. As an edutainment (education + entertainment) facility, it aims to foster children’s life skills. Located on the 3rd floor (North Port) of “Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu 1” in Toyosu, Koto City, Tokyo, it offers convenient access. A wide range of activities is available, from jobs that protect people and the city such as firefighters, doctors, and police officers, to food-related jobs like pastry chefs and pizza makers, and transportation-related jobs such as pilots and train operators.
Top 3 Highlights
1. Around 100 authentic activities
At KidZania Tokyo, children can enjoy around 100 activities (job and service experiences) sponsored by real companies. Kids change into uniforms and use real equipment and tools to work as if they were adults. For example, they can fight fires as firefighters or make baked sweets as pastry chefs—experiences that help nurture their dreams for the future.
2. Experience economic activity through the unique currency “KidZo”
As compensation for work, children receive KidZania’s exclusive currency, “KidZo.” KidZos can be deposited at the bank inside KidZania, used for shopping at the department store, or paid as fees for lessons (activities). This allows children to experience “working” and the “value of money,” and learn how the economy works in a realistic way.
3. Programs that provide opportunities to engage with English
KidZania Tokyo offers a variety of programs where children can naturally be exposed to English while playing. For example, in the “E@K Activity,” the entire activity is conducted in English, helping children build communication skills while having fun. On “English Wednesday!,” about half of the activities in the facility are conducted in English on Wednesdays, allowing interaction with global staff. Furthermore, in the ※“English Activities Program,” children can experience multiple activities in English consecutively in small groups, and even beginners can participate with confidence with gestures and support.
