An authentic taiyaki-making experience from the batter up—savor Japan’s tradition and culture with all five senses.

An interactive sweets workshop in Asakusa where you can experience Japanese culture through making wagashi
【浅草たい焼き工房 求楽】

Located in Taito City, Tokyo—about an 8-minute walk from Asakusa Station and about a 4-minute walk from Tawaramachi Station—there is an interactive workshop “求楽(ぐらく)” where you can make the traditional Japanese confection “taiyaki” with your own hands.
With the concept of “Food×Experience×Culture,” this facility conveys Japan’s traditions and culture through taiyaki, which has long been loved. At 求楽, we offer a registered experiential program called “Taiyaki Experience®,” allowing you to make authentic taiyaki from batter using commercial taiyaki equipment. The experience takes about 50 minutes; adults can make 6 taiyaki per person, and children (elementary to high school students) can make 3 per person. The interior is a Japanese-style tatami cafe, and in a comforting atmosphere like your grandmother’s home, you can spend special moments with family, a partner, or friends. Photography and video recording are permitted.

1. Commitment to carefully selected premium ingredients

The taiyaki at 求楽 is crafted with uncompromising attention to ingredients and a pursuit of the best flavor. For the bean paste (an), we use the finest brand “豊祝小豆” from Tokachi, Hokkaido, and a completely additive-free chunky red bean paste with nothing extra added. The ingredients are only azuki beans, sugar, and salt, and artisans painstakingly cook it using a traditional method with a direct-fire copper kettle. For sweet potatoes, we use the completely pesticide-free, JAS organic brand “紅はるか” from Ayabe City, Kyoto Prefecture, so you can enjoy it with peace of mind.

2. Create a one-of-a-kind original taiyaki

The biggest attraction at 求楽 is that you can make your own original taiyaki. In addition to classic chunky red bean paste and cream, a wide variety of fillings are available, such as matcha bean paste, cheese, spicy keema curry, sweet potato style, apple cinnamon honey, tuna mayo, kimchi cheese, hot dog style, and okonomiyaki style. Furthermore, you can bring your own ingredients (free of charge) — bring fruits, sweets, and other favorites to create a truly one-of-a-kind taiyaki.

3. Comprehensive hands-on experience and flexible arrangements

In the experience, you can go through all the authentic steps from making the batter to baking. Enjoy learning the artisans’ techniques up close while measuring, sifting the mix flour, mixing the batter, pouring it onto the griddle, filling with bean paste, and baking. Any portions you can’t finish within the time can be taken home. Experience times are available upon consultation from 9:00 to 21:00, and we also accept private bookings for 7 or more people as well as early-morning and nighttime sessions. It’s an experience that can be enjoyed by a wide range of participants, from domestic and international tourists to families and solo visitors.
