【秋留台公園】

Akirudai Park sits near the center of the Akiru Plateau, nestled between the Akigawa and Hirai Rivers—tributaries of the Tama River—and is surrounded by rural landscapes that retain the atmosphere of Musashino. Within its vast grounds are diverse facilities, including a central plaza with a distinctive fountain modeled after rime-covered trees, a full-scale, all-weather, Class 3 certified athletics stadium, a rose garden, a lawn plaza, a viewing plaza, a fitness plaza, a conifer garden, and a wildflower garden, making it a place where you can fully enjoy both sports and nature.

1. Vast natural environment and seasonal flowers

Akirudai Park sits amid rural scenery that retains traces of Musashino. In spring you can enjoy beautiful flowers such as cherry blossoms, Kobushi magnolias, azaleas, Japanese kerria, satsuki azaleas, Thunberg spirea, forsythias, and roses; in summer, hydrangeas and crape myrtles; and in autumn, ginkgo, Japanese maples, zelkova, and roses. The rose garden in particular bursts with color, and the conifer garden and wildflower garden offer chances to observe rare plants. As you stroll along the well-maintained paths, it’s the perfect place to relax in nature and feel the changing seasons.

2. Full-fledged sports facilities

At the heart of the park is a Class-3 certified stadium with an all-weather 400 m track that seats about 6,700 people. Together with the adjacent Akiruno City sports facilities (gymnasium, athletic fields, pool, etc.), it forms the core of a large sports zone that serves as a hub for the Nishitama area. It’s a must for sports lovers; in addition to paid use, there are also free-admission days: the first Sunday of the month, every Wednesday, the third Saturday of the month, and whenever there is no exclusive rental.

3. Plazas and facilities for families to enjoy

The rime-ice–shaped fountain in the Central Plaza is the park’s symbol. There are ample spaces for families and friends, including a spacious lawn, a playground for children, a viewing plaza with sweeping vistas, and an interaction plaza. A barbecue area is also available, recommended for those who want to be active in nature. Pets are allowed on walks, but leashes are required and waste must be taken home.
