Addictively numbing heat! An authentic Sichuan restaurant serving mala tofu that's been featured in the media

A popular restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Sichuan mala tofu
『Mala Ou Dofu』

This time we're introducing 『Mala Ou Dofu』, located a 1-minute walk from Shinjuku Station. As the name suggests, in addition to the Sichuan mala tofu with its stimulating heat that's so popular, this well-loved restaurant also offers hot pot courses and all-you-can-eat courses of authentic Sichuan cuisine.

Both the look and aroma whet your appetite!
Authentic Sichuan numbing-spicy mala tofu

The restaurant's signature dish is "Mala Ou Dofu" (1,408 yen), whose blend of various spices and the aroma of Sichuan pepper stimulates the appetite. The tofu is drained so it suits mapo tofu, allowing the flavors to soak in thoroughly, and the punchy, numbing heat from Sichuan pepper and doubanjiang is sure to be addictive. It's a dish that will have you reaching for more rice.

Enjoy two soups—red and white—
with a hotpot course

To offer authentic flavors, all spices and seasonings are imported from Sichuan. The "Mala Ou Hotpot Course" (4,378 yen per person) lets you enjoy a two-broth hotpot: a bright red soup made with authentic spices and a white soup made with chicken stock and Chinese medicinal herbs. The course includes assorted vegetables, assorted meats, seafood such as shrimp and squid, and even dessert—sure to satisfy.

「麻辣王火鍋コース」

Mild Chinese dishes that kids can enjoy,
too!

With a wide menu that includes non-spicy dishes, it's also welcoming for families with children. Among them, the "Shrimp and Lettuce Fried Rice" (1,078 yen) is recommended as a palate cleanser after spicy dishes or for sharing with kids. The loose, separate grains of fried rice are mixed with shrimp and lettuce, and the light salt seasoning makes it easy for children to enjoy.

「えびとレタスのチャーハン」

Parents and kids can share dishes, too!

The owner is well-versed in art and even painted the wall artwork themselves. The Chinese-style interior is stylish, making it feel as if you're in China. With an extensive menu—from deliciously spicy dishes to kid-friendly, light options like fried rice, xiaolongbao, and boiled dumplings—parents and children can share plates. Families with elementary-school-age children or younger also visit on weekends. Strollers are allowed, but there is no elevator, so it suits children who can walk up the stairs. If you love spicy food or want to savor great Sichuan cuisine, be sure to stop by.
