45 years devoted to soba, steeped in Asakusa’s chic. The art of 100% buckwheat soba, crafted by 14 stone mills.

A specialty shop for 100% buckwheat soba made with in-house milled flour

『蕎亭 大黒屋』

Situated in a residential neighborhood slightly removed from the bustle of Asakusa, Kyotei Daikokuya was founded in 1977. The owner, who trained under soba master Yasuo Katakura, has devoted over 40 years to soba, continuing to captivate visitors with his skill and experience. The shop is particular about using heirloom buckwheat sourced from Niigata and Nagano. By skillfully switching among 14 stone mills, they mill the flour in-house to draw out the soba’s intrinsic aroma and flavor to the fullest—their 100% buckwheat soba is truly a work of art. Enjoy authentic soba to your heart’s content in the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Meticulous in-house milling

The owner personally selects heirloom buckwheat groats and mills them in-house using 14 different stone mills. By varying the grind according to the type of buckwheat, we bring out each variety’s character to the fullest, producing fragrant 100% buckwheat soba.

Specialty “Soba-gaki”

A must-try is “soba-gaki.” In particular, “Myoko soba-gaki,” made with buckwheat from Myoko in Niigata Prefecture, is praised for its melt-in-the-mouth texture and robust buckwheat flavor. Enjoy it as a starter with soy sauce or as a dessert with kinako, among other ways.

Reservation-required “Duck suki udon hotpot”

Our handmade udon made with homegrown wheat is also superb. In particular, the “duck suki udon hotpot,” enjoyed in a broth enriched with the savory essence of duck, is a popular dish that requires a reservation. To finish, add soba or udon and enjoy it to the very last drop.

Side dishes that complement the soba

We also offer a rich selection of small plates to enjoy while you wait for your soba, such as the fragrant “soba yaki-miso” and the irresistibly fluffy “tsukimi-imo.” Enjoy a relaxing time with our carefully selected local sake.
