\r\n Namiyoke Shrine, true to its name for “riding out the waves,” is known for blessings such as warding off calamities and bad luck, business prosperity, and construction safety. For those who wish to overcome life’s rough seas, it serves as a spiritual anchor.\r\n
\r\n Within the precincts are unusual mounds related to the market, such as “Sushi-zuka,” “Ebi-zuka,” and “Tamago-zuka.” In addition, the carvings of the “Shishigashira” and “Seiryu & Byakko”—symbolizing a dragon that commands clouds, a tiger that commands wind, and the lion that subdues them—are breathtaking. The Seven Lucky Gods are also enshrined, offering plenty to see.\r\n
\r\n Every June, the “Tsukiji Shishi Festival,” counted among the three great festivals of Edo, is held on a grand scale. The sight of a giant lion head parading through the town is truly impressive. In addition, monthly “Shichifukujin Pilgrimage” and seasonal rites are held throughout the year, delighting visitors.\r\n
\r\n At Namiyoke Shrine, seasonal seal stamps and amulets with different designs are offered. In particular, during the “Shichifukujin Pilgrimage” held on the 7th of each month, the statues of that month’s Seven Lucky Gods are put on public display, and you can receive a special seal. During the New Year, “zodiac protective talisman plaques” are distributed free of charge, and a special ceremony for warding off misfortune is also held.
