“Museum Rally 2026,” where you can enjoy both art appreciation and puzzle solving as you tour Tokyo’s museums, is now underway.
The venues are nine national and metropolitan museums in Tokyo, including The National Art Center, Tokyo, the National Museum of Western Art, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. As you view the works, solve nine puzzles and follow the story—an experiential event you travel via Tokyo Metro.
Even if you couldn’t join during summer vacation, there’s still time. The event runs until Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (national holiday). You can start from any museum, so begin at the one that interests you, or divide your visits by area—such as Ueno or Roppongi—over multiple days.

What is “Museum Rally 2026”?
“Museum Rally 2026” is an “Art × Puzzle-Solving” event that takes you around Tokyo Metro and nine national/metropolitan museums. Join the rally on your smartphone and take on puzzles while appreciating the works at each museum. When you answer correctly, you earn digital stamps.
Answer five questions correctly to receive the “5 Museums Achievement Award,” and answer all nine to unlock the epilogue and the final puzzle, then proceed to apply for the “All Clear Achievement Award.” You don’t need to visit everything at once, making it easy to include in Tokyo sightseeing or a day out.

How to enjoy Museum Rally 2026
STEP 01
Join the rally on your smartphone
Join from the special website and choose the museum you want to visit. The dedicated leaflet is available at Tokyo Metro stations and participating museums, but you can participate even without it.
STEP 02
Take on puzzles while appreciating the works
Read the story as you tour the museums and enter the answers to the puzzles. If correct, you can earn digital stamps.
STEP 03
We also recommend first aiming to complete 5 venues
Even if you don’t have time to visit all nine, answering five questions correctly lets you apply for the “5-Museum Achievement Prize.” If you’re joining from September, choosing an area of interest and setting a goal of five museums is realistic.
STEP 04
After answering 9 correctly, on to the final puzzle
Answer all nine puzzles to unlock the epilogue. Use the clues you’ve collected so far to take on the final puzzle and aim to complete them all.

The nine venues are scattered around Tokyo. Rather than forcing yourself to conquer everything in a single day, divide your trip by areas where museums cluster so you can take your time enjoying both the exhibitions and a stroll around town.
Art-hopping in Ueno The National Museum of Western Art + Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. As both are in Ueno Park, it’s easy to combine them, and there are plenty of nearby sights such as museums and the zoo.
Roppongi: a day of city-center art Stroll around Roppongi with The National Art Center, Tokyo as your hub. You can also use Tokyo Metro to connect to The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo in Takebashi.
Leisurely enjoy gardens and photography Pair the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum in Shirokanedai with the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Ebisu to enjoy architecture, gardens, and photography in a single day.
Tour old-town Tokyo culture After learning about Tokyo’s history at the Edo–Tokyo Museum, head toward Kiyosumi-Shirakawa to the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Adding a café crawl is also recommended.

Takebashi / around the Imperial Palace
The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
A national art museum located close to the Imperial Palace and adjacent to Kitanomaru Park. Centered on modern and contemporary Japanese art from the late Meiji period to the present, it houses a wide range of works including paintings, sculptures, and photographs. It’s easy to combine with a walk around the Imperial Palace area, and is recommended for those who want to experience Tokyo’s modern and contemporary culture.

Closed for exhibition changeover from September 14 (Mon) to 23 (Wed, holiday). During this period, the puzzle-solving can be enjoyed using the substitute poster near the Otemachi-bound ticket gate at Tokyo Metro Tozai Line “Takebashi Station”.
