“Sunshine City World Orchid Exhibition 2026 (65th All Japan Orchid Society Orchid Show) — Welcome to the World of Orchids: Color and Fragrance —” will be held. This event, themed “Welcome to the World of Orchids: Color and Fragrance,” is one of Japan’s leading orchid shows, exhibiting around 800 orchids submitted from areas around Kanto, from species that convey the charm of nature to the latest flowers that represent the pinnacle of breeding. While viewing vibrant orchid flowers up close, you can obtain information about orchids from various perspectives through diverse displays and sales as well as lectures by experts. The world of orchid fragrance is wide-ranging, from sweet perfume-like scents to spicy notes, fruity aromas, and even highly distinctive fragrances. This time, there will be a special exhibition focusing on one of the charms of orchids—“fragrance”—titled “Orchid Fragrance: Mechanisms and Ways to Enjoy It,” along with special lectures given by members of the All Japan Orchid Society and orchid enthusiasts, workshops to enjoy flower arrangement and cultivation classes. In addition, a violin mini-concert will be held at the venue surrounded by beautiful orchids. Most are to attract insects, but humans regard fragrance as something to enjoy and have devised judging methods to appreciate it more deeply. Alongside panel displays introducing the mechanisms of fragrance and ways to enjoy it, actual specimens will be exhibited, so please also enjoy the splendor of scent—the very essence of orchid appeal. ■ Individual Exhibitions by the All Japan Orchid Society and Orchid Enthusiast Groups Entries from the All Japan Orchid Society and orchid enthusiast groups in the neighboring Kanto prefectures will be displayed by group.
